Project
Coventry Biennial 2021:
Hyper-Possible
Brief
Coventry Biennial 2021: Hyperpossible will explore activism through the use of Visual concept design. The inspiration behind this years theme is from the BLK Art group, hence the focus this year will be to highlight and empower more black artists and voices and to be actively working for a change.
Concept

The concept of the campaign “Movements not Moments” means that Moments are still in time while movements are on going, and that is why we need to keep pushing for a change.

Colours & Symbolism

The concept will be visualized by using two squares, one in its natural state which represent stability and stillness while the other is in motion, pushing itself into the other one. The colours used in the campaign are Yellow and black, colours that are used in the Black Lives Matter Movement , this colour composition is powerful, bold, and potent. Both Pink & Purple are colours that would be use in different movements.

Typography

The font selected evoked the campaign's bold and empowering tone. The choice of a funky typography such as Mabry Pro gives a feeling of activism.

Mediums

The mediums used throughout the campaign will be posters highlighting the artists of the biennial as well as billboard showcasing the event itself.

Additionally, interactive installations will be put where you can push the squares to show the mouvement. Finally, a website where you can find anti-racism resources as well as the artists highlighted

other colours will be used for other activist workshops those being pro-LGBT workshops and pro-Feminist workshops. The biennial in itself is just a moment, but with the adaptability of this visual language, it has the potential to change into a movement.
